Girl
Scouts of San Jacinto Council Partners With Local Professional Organizing
Group
Parents,
Girl Scouts and Troop Leaders Set to Learn Time Management, Closet
Organization and Paper Control
|
(FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE-Houston, September 9, 2002) Girl Scouts of San Jacinto
Council (GSSJC) and the Houston Professional Organizers (HPO) have joined
forces to promote organization among young girls and women. HPO members
Linda Durham and Beth Sinclair, both owners of their own professional
organization firms, will speak at GSSJC's Senior Girl Scout Opportunity
Day on September 14 to Girl Scout Seniors, parents and troop leaders at
the Girl Scout Center, 3110 Southwest Freeway, from 10 a.m. until 11:00.
The Girl Scouts attending will learn everything from cutting closet clutter,
to how to organize school assignments and social calendars. "We are
so pleased HPO could develop this training for our girls. Better organizers
are better students and they are happier, too. This is a skill our girls
can really benefit from," says GSSJC Program Manager Kathy Elliot.
HPO is partnering with the San Jacinto Council to help promote National
Organization of Professional Organizers' Get Organized Week, October 6-12.
This year's theme is "Organize To Make A Difference." Both Durham
and Sinclair will help each Senior Girl Scout in attendance by teaching
organizational skills and tools to help them manage their time and space.
Many people ask, "Why Organize?" HPO members help train their
clients to organize for peace of mind, quality of life, and a sense of
order and control. Being organized also saves time and money. HPO is slated
to become a chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers
in October. For more information about HPO, check the organization website
at www.HoustonProfessionalOrganizers.com.
Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is the premiere organization for all
girls-building character, values and skills for a lifetime. As the largest
Girl Scout Council in Texas, San Jacinto serves more than 54,000 girls
and 14,000 adults in 21 east and southeast Texas counties. For information
