Refunds
The $50 non-refundable down payment is non-refundable once a girl has been placed in a camp session. Refunds of the balance of the camp fee are allowed only if a camper has a written statement from a doctor. If a cancellation is necessary for other than medical reasons, a refund of the balance is made only if the place is filled. A full refund can be made only if a camper is on the waiting list and cannot be placed.
All refunds must be requested by August 15, 2008.
Cookie Dough
Girls who earn Cookie Dough by participating in the GSSJC Cookie Sale can apply all or a portion toward the balance of the camp fee by sending the original Cookie Dough with the payment form. Cookie Dough may not be used towards the down payment. Cookie Dough may also be used to purchase items at the Trading Post/Ship’s Store.
Scholarships - Give a Girl the Camp Experience
Financial assistance, called a Campership, is partially underwritten by GSSJC. The remainder of the money comes from donations. Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Campership Fund may send a check to: GSSJC, Campership Fund, 3110 Southwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77098. Please indicate that this is the fund to which you wish to contribute by writing “campership donation” on the memo line. Your contribution is tax deductible.
In addition, support of the annual Cookie Sale enables GSSJC to offer quality camp programs for less than the actual cost of camp operations.
Requesting a Scholarship (Campership)
To ensure that girls have the opportunity to experience resident camping, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) has established a Campership Fund. Members of GSSJC can apply for full or partial financial assistance at the time of registration. Camperships are awarded based on each family's income and/or unique circumstances. If you would like to support a girl by donating toward a campership, you may find out more about it online.
If you are applying for a Campership, please complete the Campership Form in the Resident Camp Guide (PDF,513MB) and send in a completed registration form to ensure placement or register online and complete the online campership application. Both forms are required in order to receive a campership. All requests are reviewed by a volunteer committee.
Forms received by April 13, 2008 will be reviewed and awarded as funds are available. Requests received after that date will be handled only if funds are available.
